King。 　　Ben E. King原名Benjamin Nelson，在其高中时代就开始跨足歌坛，稍后参加了一支叫The Five Crowns的组合，在乐队中他担任主唱，并负责部分的词曲创作。 1959年已经成立六年的老牌合唱团“漂流客（The Drifters）”因为与经纪人矛盾激化导致解散。经理人和唱片公司迅速找到了一个新的目标，The Five Crowns改名成为了新的The Drifters，Benjamin Nelson也将自己的名字改为Ben E. King。这支新的组合很快就得到了市场的认可，但是Ben E. King却开始谋划自己的单飞之路。次年五月，他终于决定退出“漂流客”开始个人的发展。 　　其实Stand By Me的前身是一首很老的黑人灵歌Lord Stand By Me，50年代的“五盲童（阿拉巴马五盲童）”合唱团就曾演唱过。 Ben E. King单飞后各方面对他的认可度颇高，他就乘热打铁很快推出了这首经过他自己改编的Stand By Me，但是很可惜始终没有达到过排行榜的榜首名次。排行榜的记录显示，这首歌的七个不同录音曾经八次打入过排行榜，其中Ben E. 30～～这歌也太老了点, 只要听试听的地址都感觉到有一定的历史了
