斯汀 Sting

斯汀（原名Gordon Mattew Summer）。1951年10月2日出生于沃尔森（Wallsend），
斯汀第一次接触乐器是他叔叔迁居加拿大所留下的吉它。
在这把只乘下五根长满锈的琴弦的西班牙吉它上，斯汀的手指找到了一个音乐的归宿，
他与吉它形影不离，经常弹奏“披头士”和“滚石”，后来更迷上蓝调，从此他对音乐爱不释手。
在一次偶然的机会里，斯汀参与了“凤凰爵士手”(Phoenix Jazzman）担任贝司副手。有一回贝司手安尼（Ernie）临时缺席，斯汀总算有机会好好表现一下。
结果整个舞 台为之疯狂， 从那时起他改名为Sting，在音乐中寻求未来的发展。
1977年1月警察乐团（The Police）在伦敦成功成立，斯汀在其中担任主唱和贝司手，
其他成员有史都华（Stewart Armstrong Copeland），
亨利·帕度交尼（Henri Padovani），安迪·桑玛（Andy Summers）。
翌年冬“警察”发行了第一张专辑《Outlandosdi Amour》， 销售成绩相当不错，
在英国得到双白金唱片，在美国得到金唱片，接下来的四张专辑也分别在英，
美获得了双白金和金唱片以上的成绩，并且屡获葛莱美殊荣。
歌坛上有许多乐团正在走红时却面临解 散，“警察”也难逃此运，
但这并没有影响到斯汀的音乐生涯。

因为斯汀在“警察”时表现得太出色了，歌迷的眼光仍会继续投注在他身上。
在1985年首张专辑《The Dream of Blue Turtles》中， 斯汀完整地展现出他的音乐理念，
同时也述说了他的情感世界：如《If You Love Somebody Set Them Free》，
86年的《Bring on the Night》是一张演唱会的专辑，虽只在少数国家发行，但仍让斯汀多添一座葛莱美奖。
87年《Nothing Like the Sun》是一张大手笔之作，不少艺人前来助兴，
当中除了《Little Wing》是取自吉米·汉德利克斯（Jimi Hendrix）作品外，其余都是斯汀一手包办词曲。
斯汀还特别附注说明写每首曲子的灵感与动机为何，他已深深地将心之所感溢于其作品中。
91年，斯汀又推出了专辑《Soul Cages》。
93年的《Ten Summer's Tale》 又带我们堕进一种热闹过尽的落寞气氛中。
在这张专辑中，史汀较重人性化的表现，因他的说法是“科技的迅速发展和教会对人本性的禁制，
两者皆能使人对本身的价值失去信心”。
为了重建人性的价值，斯汀写成了《If I Ever LoseMy Faith In You》，歌词中延续了他的感悟：
“If I ever lose my faith in you,There'd be nothing left for me to do.
（如果我对你失去信心，我再可有什么作为？）”
简单的歌词却道出了现代人的迷惘。斯汀的作品总是有足够的力量去推动一个个死寂的心灵，
他不经意地吟唱着一些反映现实的诗句，创作着一个斯汀的气氛。
史汀的环境构筑的世界，充满了艺术气质的感染力。
