这首曲子,Summertime是音乐剧《波姬与贝丝》（Porgy & Bess）中的名曲,这部美国本土黑人爵士乐歌剧由白人现代作曲家格什温（George Gershwin） 写于三十年代,红在五、六十年代,自1953年在纽约首演以来已演出过三百余场,成为爵士乐史上最经典的变体.它是第一部黑人歌剧,也是爵士乐首度以歌剧形式在剧院演出.歌剧改编自以写黑人题材著名的白人作家 DuBose Heyward(1885-1940)的小说“PORGY”.

　　Summertime问世迄今已有超过2600种录音版本,并且每年都在增加.古典、爵士、流行各种人声和器乐都有尝试,特别是在爵士乐界,由于音乐和肤色的渊源,这首歌几乎留下了所有的大师的声音.
